Mometasone Furoate comes as a nasal spray and implant. The Mometasone Furoate implant is used primarily in the treatment of nasal polyps. It is placed inside the nasal sinus and left in the sinus to allow for the medication's gradual release. After some time (commonly 90 days), the implant is removed by a doctor. The implant is not used to treat seasonal allergies or hay fever, just polyps in patients over 18 years of age.
Olopatadine HCL is another nasal spray that is used in the treatment and prevention of seasonal allergy symptoms. It belongs to a class of medications called antihistamines and works by preventing histamines' release when the body comes in contact with an allergen.
Mometasone Furoate is a corticosteroid or steroid-based medication. It is used to treat inflammatory reactions. Antihistamines can also be used to treat inflammatory reactions, but antifungal medications are only used to treat fungal organisms' infections.
All medications have an expiration date. Make sure to check the packaging for an expiration date. Please do not use the medicine after the expiration date as it may have changed in structure, increasing the potential for an adverse reaction.
