Premature Ejaculation
Premature ejaculation is when ejaculation occurs earlier than desired during sexual intercourse. It can cause undo stress and anxiety, and even put a strain on a relationship. However, there is no need to worry. Lidocaine and prilocaine cream has been designed to desensitize the penis and help you last long during sex. This FDA-approved cream can be prescribed by a doctor to help make your sexual experiences more enjoyable.
The cream should be applied 15-30 minutes prior to sex. Before application, make sure to wash your hands. A small pea sized amount should be placed directly on the tip and/or glans of your penis. It should not be applied on broken skin or open wounds as it will cause irritation. Wait for 15-30 minutes before cleaning it off. Ensure all the cream is removed and it does not come into contact with your partner.
The cream contains the active ingredients lidocaine and prilocaine. These are both local anesthetics that work by reducing the sensitivity of the area of the penis which they are applied to. This reduction in sensitivity results in delayed ejaculation during sexual intercourse. Lidocaine and Prilocaine cream has proved effective in 77% of cases. A study in 2002 showed that 5% lidocaine and prilocaine cream caused an 8.7 minute increase in average pre-ejaculation period.
The cream is oil based and can cause a condom to break. This is why it is essential to wipe off the cream before putting on a condom. Alternatively, polyurethane condoms are not weakened by the cream so it might be wise to invest in these.
The cream can be used by all men unless they have a G6PD deficiency or certain blood disorders such as methemoglobinemia. In these cases, alternative treatments should be sought. The cream is safe to use with other medications, however, it is important to let your doctor know about any other medication you're taking.
The cream is effective in delaying ejaculation in most men. It is an inexpensive treatment for premature ejaculation, and is readily available to purchase at most pharmacies with a doctor’s prescription.
Lidocaine causes a small decrease in sensitivity during sex, however, the quality of orgasm and level of sexual enjoyment is not impacted.
Since it is a cream, it can get messy. After application, it is important to wash your hands and make sure the cream does not come into contact with other areas of your body. As you also need to wash the cream away after application, you’ll need to have access to a bathroom nearby.
A lot of worry and frustration can occur due to premature ejaculation. However, there are treatments to help combat this. Lidocaine and prilocaine cream is just one of the many options out there. It has been found to be the most effective treatment to lengthen ejaculation time in most men, however, each individual will react to the cream differently. It is good to test out the different options available and see what is best suited to you.
